Two blue and white bowls, Ming dynasty, (1368-1644).

One decorated with qilin dragons. Hallmark to base. Diameter 12.5 cm. The other decorated with buddhist lions amidst cloud formations. Hallmark to base. Diameter 12 cm.

Wear. Small fritts. Firing cracks to one base.

Provenance

A private collection of Asian Ceramics. The collection was brought together by a Swedish gentleman with a career at within the Swedish Foreign Ministry. During the years posted in various countries in Asia the interest of Fine Art and Asian Art that he had with him from home developed and an academic study collection was formed. Friendships and alliances were made within the field that even resulted in arranging guest lectures for Mr Abu Rihdo, of Museum Pusat, Jakarta at the East Asian Museum in Stockholm in 1981.
