A set of two blue and white ewers, Qing dynasty, Kangxi (1662-1722).

Decorated with flowers and dragons amidst clouds. The smaller after a European silver model, the larger after a archaistic bronze shape. 'Zhen wan' or 'Precious trinket' mark to base of the smaller ewer. The smaller ewer with later Dutch silver mounting to cover. Height 15.5-19.5 cm.

Wear. Scratches. Later silver mount. Smaller ewer with firing cracks and chips.

Provenance

The Collection of Ivan Traugott (1871-1952). (I.T. 963 / 2475). Marked with inventory number. Thence by descent. Traugott was a Swedish businessman and important art collector. A large part of his collections can be seen today at Nationalmuseum and East Asian Museum in Stockholm.
