Cylindrical shape with a flared rim. Decorated with underglaze blue roundels of antiquities and camelia, carnations, aster, prunus, peony and garden rocks to celadon ground carved with quilong dragons amongst peony and stylised foliage. Height 41 cm.

Purchased at Christie's Amsterdam Chinese and Japanese Ceramics and Works of Art, 19th of May 2004, as part of the lot no 170.
Note from the catalogue: A similar five-piece garniture from the Collection of Augustus the Strong, King of Saxony, is illustrated by Eva Ströber, La Maladie de Porcelain..., Berlin 2001, pp. 108-109, no 46, where the author notes that the garniture was acquired in 1723 from the dealer Madame Bassetouche.
