After several years of education, Märta af Ekenstam opened her studio in Malmö in 1913. Her works were inspired by German and Austrian contemporary Art Nouveau with richly decorated objects, often as here incorporating semi-precious stones. This goblet was probably included the Baltic Exhibition in Malmö 1914.
