an 'Embryo Chair', Idée, Japan, post 1988.
Black neoprene, three chrome plated legs with aluminium frames, height ca 81 cm.
Insignificant wear.
Acquired at the Marc Newson exhibition at C&Bi Interior in Stockholm, 1991.
The design of the Embryo Chair was then Marc Newson's most technically advanced project, using injection molded polyurethane foam over a steel frame, and surface covered with colorful wetsuit neoprene. “I came up with the idea to design it in a wetsuit, because the colors were strong and I was seduced by the structure. It felt very Australian. ”Quote from Marc Newson himself.
Neoprene has not been used since 1995.
