More information

.Lars Jonsson was recently mentioned in the newspaper Göteborgs-Posten (September 30, 2020) as follows:
"He is today considered one of the world's foremost nature painters, following artist brothers von Wright and Bruno Liljefors. In addition, he is an ornithologist with a special interest in birds. An interest that has existed since he was a small child, alongside his interest in painting.

Lars Jonsson grew up in the Stockholm archipelago, but he has lived on Gotland for more than 30 years and Gotland's bird life is part of much of his art. However, it is not just a matter of depicting birds, but of infusing them with life.”

Near his art studio on Gotland's southeast coast is Lars Jonsson's world of motifs. Next to one of the stone fences is his favorite place, overlooking the sea and beach meadows.
He is keen on direct contact with atmosphere and landscape, as the impressionist he basically is. It is a place for visual experiences but also for dreams, while the Eiders stretch past and the bridesmaids plunge against foreign intruders.

Lars Jonsson continuously shows his art at recognized galleries and art museums in Sweden, Great Britain and the USA.
On October 3, 2020 - January 10, 2021, Lars Jonsson's new Swedish museum exhibition was shown at Bohusläns Museum in Uddevalla.

Last year, Lars Jonsson's paintings were also shown at three art museums in the USA:
Wichita Falls Museum of Art, Texas (17/1-22/2 2020),
Newington-Cropsey Foundation, New York (23/3-15/5 2020)
and Wendell Gilley Museum, Maine (20/6-8/9 2020).

Lars Jonsson is, among others, represented at the National Museum in Stockholm.
On southern Gotland there is the Museum Lars Jonsson in Vamlingbo.
In 2002, Lars Jonsson was awarded an honorary doctorate at Uppsala University.
