Two Swedish faience aphotecary jars, Marieberg, period of Ehrenreich and Rörstrand 18th Century.

One marked MB, Ehrenreichs period (1758-66). Decoratd with P.S. Cumin, I H S, 3 crowns, Height 13,5 cm. The back of the jar with the name Georgii. The other one signed Rörstrand, with the label P. Ant. Mart, IHS, the three crowns and the name on the back Georgii. Höjd 12,5 cm.

Made for the pharmacy of Serafimerlasarettet (Hospital) in Stockholm.

Literature

The mark on the back Georgii if for the pharmacist Johan Christian Georgii (son of Petter Eberhard Georgii, who also was a pharmacist, and owned the pharmacy Kronan, Vanadisvägen, Stockholm). Johan Christian came to run the pharmacy in 1750, from 1753 and onwards he became hospital pharmacist at the Serafimer Hospital in Stockholm. Pharmacist to the court.
