Embroidered panels, 4 pcs., wool on wool, ca 186-190,5 x 131,5-137 cm per piece, probably England 18th century.

Each panel sewn together of two pieces of fabric. A blue ground with polychrome embroideries of allegorical figures, flowers, animals, depicted paintings and Chinese porcelain as well as symbols for, for example, the male (a crane/a stork and a rooster), female symbols, the dog which symbolizes fidelity and the monkey which symbolizes wit and humor.
