Ilmari Tapiovaara
(Finland, 1914-1999)

a white lacquered "Maija the Bee", Hionteräs, Finland late 1950's.

Details of brass, marked HIONTERÄS. Height of the lamp 40 cm.

Minor wear, the electrical cord is cut.

Provenance

Mielikki (Maija) Tapiovaara (married Douglas)
This lamp was a gift from Ilmari Tapiovaara for her sister Mielikki (Maija) during the late 1950's. Thence by descent.
The relationship is documentated in the book: "Yksitoista Tapiovaaraa : tuoleja, tauluja, elokuvia - Matti Rinne" where it is also written that Mielikki was called Maija.
This model was designed in 1955.
