Melchior Wernstedt, a brass two light table lamp, Nordiska Kompaniet for the Stockholm City Hall, 1920's.

Brass, ivory coloured leg of porcelain with relief decoration, the tin shade lacquered in green. Height ca 57 cm.
Melchior Wernstedt (1886-1973), architect.

He was employed at Ragnar Östberg's office for the work on City Hall 1916-1921, where, in addition to a number of different lamps, he was also responsible for the interior of the restaurant in the City Hall "Stadshuskällaren".
Wernstedt was appointed professor of architecture and ornamental drawing at the Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg between 1923-1951

He was employed at Ragnar Östberg's architect's office for the work on City Hall 1916-1921, where, in addition to a number of different lamps, he was also responsible for the interior of the restaurant in the City Hall "Stadshuskällaren". He was also involved in the interior design of Stockholm's Concert Hall, where the architect was Ivar Tengbom.
