A set of five bronze tsubas, Japan, 19th Century.

Cast and gilded decoration. Two with traces of signature. Measurement approximately 6,2-7,5 cm.

One with drill holes, wear, tarnished.

Provenance

From the Collection of Knut Bohlin (1869-1956), Torö, Nynäshamn. Thence by descent. Bohlin became a Ph.D. in 1901, and in the same year an associate professor of botany at Stockholm University and an associate professor of biology and chemistry. He became principal of the Nya Elementarskolan in 1914. He made several scientific journeys. His scientific botanical research mainly concerns the microscopic freshwater algae.
