"From Lidingö island" (Från Lidingön)
Signed I Ivarson. With written dedication on verso "To mother on Mothers Day 1936. Ivan" (Till mamma på mors dag 1936. från Ivan). Panel 50 x 40 cm.
Ivan Ivarson's paintings are never direct depictions, rather they are filled with his warm feelings for nature. His works are expressive with intense colors as he paints the sky, the sea, the earth and figures. Thanks to his patron, Professor Torgny Segerstedt, Ivarson was given the opportunity to make journeys abroad in the 1920s. He went to Italy and France where he started to work with deeper colors and the reflection of light. "Från Lidingön" depicts two figures who are schematically painted, the emphasis is on the colors. The bright yellow in the autumn trees are set against the clear blue water and the glowing red of the ground which makes the whole picture vibrate.
