JOSEF FRANK
Josef Frank (1885-1967) was an Austrian/Swedish architect and designer. He began his career in Austria, where he co-founded interior design firm Haus & Garten, but from 1933 he made his home in Stockholm. Estrid Ericson recruited him to her firm in 1934 and their collaboration went on to become a success story. Today Josef Frank’s name is primarily associated with the company Svenskt Tenn. Frank is considered one of Sweden’s most important designers of all time, and his influence on Swedish interior design from the mid 20th century onward cannot be overestimated. Frank was incredibly productive, with an abundant output of textiles patterns and furniture sketches. His textiles feature vibrant colours and dynamic botanical designs.
