På 1970 och 80-talet var Mats Bäcker en av Sveriges mest profilerade konsertfotografer. Han följde dåtidens stora artister på uppdrag av musikpressen, men var även pionjär när han följde nystartade band som U2 och Imperiet. Moderna Museet ställde ut ett urval av Mats Bäckers fotografier 1989.
