A seated turkoise glazed figure of buddai. Height with wooden stand that accompanies the piece 9,2 cm.

Chinese turquoise porcelain from the reign of the Emperor Kangxi became hugely popular in Europe during the 18th century. There was particular interest in France and many pieces were ornamented with rich ormolu mounts to suit the French taste.

The turquoise biscuit porcelain became extremely popular in England from the late 19th century into the 1930s. Rich bankers such as Anthony Rothschild were avid collectors.
