Provenance

Bought in 1974 at Lysberg, Hansen och Therp in Copenhagen, at the time a purveyor to the Danish and Swedish court. This well known antique and furnishings firm, that goes back to 1841, was situated at the prestigious address Bredgade 3, the street famous for its antique shops, auction houses and the Museum of Applied Arts (nowadays the Museum of Art and Design). The firm, was famous for its furniture, chandeliers, fine collector's and interior decoration carpets as well as costly curtains in brocade. It was Lysberg, Hansen & Therp that in 1967 was responsible for the decorations for the wedding of princess Margrethe (now the Queen of Denmark) and Henri de Laborde de Montpezats.
