A gilt bronze figure of Buddha, presumably Tang dynasty (618-907).

The figure is shown seated on a raised rectangular base, the left hand resting on the knee. The figure is wearing simple, diaphanous robes, and the head is framed by the open center of the flame-form mandorla which is surmounted by the seated figure of Amitabha Buddha. Height 11,8 cm.

Tarnished, wear.

Paul R Wedandal Collection. Purchased at Sotheby's during the 1970's. Thence by descent.
