Tack vare Inge Schiölers försäljningsframgångar 1956 kunde man bygga ett hus åt honom på Syd-Koster. Huset och omgivningarna som konstnären besökte med sin motorbåt kom att betyda oerhört mycket för hans hälsotillstånd och de intensiva målningar som han skapade under slutet av 1950-talet och 1960-talet.
