The Calibre 85 was the first automatic movement produced and sold commercialy by IWC. It was a revolutionary movement, designed by Albert Pellaton (1898-1976) and it introduced the Pellaton winding system to the world and was the forefather of the entire line of the great IWC in-house automatic movements.
It was only produced for two years in a very limited quantities (total of ca 8,400 in 1950 and 1951).
