A large Lanna style sculpture head of Buddha, Thailand, 17/18th Century.

Cast with serene expression, downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, tightly curled hair raising to the ushnisha surmounted by a lotus bud. Height 28,5 cm. Height with wooden stand 41 cm.

Wear, tarnish.

Provenance

From the collection of a Swedish businessman and Collector of Oriental Ceramics and Works of Art who passed away in the 1990’s. Thence by descent. Lots from this collection previously sold in these rooms at auction 593.
