A bronze figure of Shakyamuni Buddha, possibly late Ming dynasty/early Qing dynasty, 17th century.

Seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base, his hands in bhumisparsamudra and dhyanamudra, wearing a long flowing robe over is left shoulder, his face with serene expression, downcast eyes, arched eyebrows, aquiline nose, smiling lips. Height 23 cm.

Small chips to footrim.

Provenance

Formerly in the collection of Leodor Levy (1870-1953), collector, solicitor and founder of the firm Lidforss & Levy, also secretary of the Jewish Community in Stockholm from 1909 onwards. Thence by descent.
