Engineer Sven A Almqvist
The receiver of the book, Sven A Almqvist (1840-1931), was one of the most influential engineers and constructors of his time and had an important role in the regeneration of the Swedish commercial and military fleet. As head of the design office at Motala mekaniska Verkstad (Motala engineering company) he had many dealings with the Nobel companies in Russia. Amongst the projects he designed and built in 1878, together with Ludvig Nobel (father of Emanuel and brother to Alfred and Robert) the world’s first oil tanker, Zoroaster.
