Six armorial rouge de fer and gold plates, Qing dynasty, Yongzheng (1723-35).

Two deep dishes, and four flat dinner plates. Decorated in gold and iron red. The coat of arms in famille rose colours with the motto 'in ardua virtus'. Diameter 22-22,5 cm.

One with rimcrack. Fritts and minor chip to rim. Wear.

Provenance

With the coat of arms of Husbands. This service was made for Revd James Husbands, Rector of Little Horkesley in Essex for many years. Also senior fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

Exhibitions

The service was for many years at Stisted Hall, Essex.
