a stained birch dining room set with a table and twelve chairs, Sweden 1930-40-tal.

The table 200 x 120 cm + three extra leaves à 63 cm, total length 389 cm, height 76,5 cm.

Provenance

Wiwen Nilsson, hence sold to the present owner's family.

An architect named Hans Westman made the drawings for a private house in Lund in 1938. The house was acquired by Wiwen Nilsson in 1941.
The present dining room suite was designed by Wiwen Nilsson himself and on the walls, there were paintings by Pär Siegård and G A N.

Designer

Wiwen Nilsson was a Swedish designer born in Copenhagen. He studied at his father's workshop, as well as in Germany, Denmark, and France. Nilsson is primarily known for his objects created in silver with geometric, clean, and austere forms. Nilsson debuted at the Gothenburg Exhibition in 1923. At the Stockholm Exhibition in 1930, he had his major breakthrough, and his innovative modernism was a success. Nilsson created, among other things, jewellery, table silver, and services.
