According to family tradition, this ring was a gift from Karl XII to Axel Erik Roos (1684 - 1765) as an honour to him for his work in the skirmish of Bender. Through his daughter Hedvig Juliana the ring came into ownership to the noble family Ribbing af Koberg. Her grandson Conrad Ribbing gave the ring to professor Santessons wife in 1870 as a token of appreciation after professor Santesson performed a vital operation. The ring and its history has been kept and treasured in the family since.
