A Russian dinner plate, Imperial porcelain manufactory, St Petersburg, period of Alexander II (1855-1881).

Of octofoil form, molded with Gotzowsky erhabene Blumen, with three sprays of Hochschnitt Blumen and with the Imperial Russian State Seal and below the Cross of the Order of St Andrew.

Provenance

From the Service for the Imperial Order of St. Andrew. In 1856, shortly after ascending to the throne, Emperor Alexander II ordered additions to be made to the four Order Services originally ordered by Catherine II ordered from Garnder Manufactory and the original St Andrew Service that Augustus of Saxony had given to Empress Elisabeth.
