AUKTIONSVERKET:

Huis ten Bosch ligger i Haag och är ett av den nederländska kungafamiljens officiella slott. Sedan 1981 är det drottning Beatrix av Nederländernas bostad
The present painting belongs to a group of landscapes in the styles of Anthonie Jansz van der Croos, of wich most are signed with the initials P.C. and some, such as our painting, PCOSIN. As pointed out by H.U. Beck, op.cit, p. 131, on the basis of the latter type of signature Willem van de Watering was the first to identify him as the painter Pieter Cosijn, who was born in Rijskwijk circa 1630 and who was active in the Hague circa 1647-1667, but of whom otherwise hardly anything is known. A similar work by Cosijn is the landscape with the castle at Rijswijk, signed with initials P.C., oil on panel, 56,5 x 89 cm, wich was with Scheidwimmer, Munich (see H.U. Beck, op, cit, cat. no 336A, fig. XVIII)
