Platinum. Length 36 cm. Safety-chain in 14K white gold.

Provenance

The film composer Max Steiner (1888 - 1971) inherited the necklace from his father Gabor Christian Steiner who was a protégée of Emperor Franz Josef in Vienna. Max Steiners grandfather was the owner of the famous opera house "Teater an der Wien". His parents were frequent guests to state dinners at the palace in Vienna and the necklace was often worn on these occations.
Max Steiner is known by many as "the father of film music" and he made the music for films like "Gone with the wind" and "Casablanca" among others.
