Provenance

The collection of General Director Vilhelm Meyers. A prominent danish businessman who lived and worked in China during the years 1902-1935. He ran and owned the Andersen & Meyer Ltd, a company which at the time had about 25 000 employees.

Yuan Shikai (1859-1916) was an important Chinese general and politician, famous for his influence during the late Qing Dynasty, his role in the events leading up to the abdication of the last Qing Emperor of China, his autocratic rule as the first official President of the Republic of China, and his short-lived attempt to restore monarchy in China, with himself as the Hongxian Emperor.
