More information

The Seventh Dalai Lama (1708-1757) lived during very turbulent political times, with plots and fighting going on among the Tibetans, the Mongolians, and the Chinese for supremacy over the Tibetan government.
In 1720, at age thirteen, he was enthroned in the Potala as the Seventh Dalai Lama. During his reign he gave public teachings, wrote many books, and ordered the production of enormous numbers of statues and thangkas that he distributed throughout Tibet.
