A copper alloy figure of Amitayus, Tibet/Nepal, presumably late 19th century/early 20th century.

Holding the vase with nectar for long life. A symbol pressed to base on back. Height 10,3 cm.

Wear. Wooden shrine accompanies the piece.

Provenance

From the Collection of Clärenore Stinnes & Carl-Axel Söderström. The pieces were acquired during their two year long journey around the world in a car during the years 1927-1929. Clärenore Stinnes was the daughter of a German Industrialist, she initiated the whole project and set out with the Swedish Camera man Carl-Axel Söderström, whom she later married, and two mechanics. A film has been produced WDR about the young adventurous couple and their remarkable expedition that is called ‘Fräulein Stinnes fährt um die Welt’, by Erica von Moeller, 2008. Thence by descent.
