Bukowskis are grateful to Fred Meijer of the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, the Hague, for proposing the attribution to Frans Ykens on the basis of photographs and probably painted around 1650. The painting would appear to be a fragment, the lower half of a cartouche still life.
