EMBROIDERY on silk. 291 x 189 cm. China 18th to 19th century.

Ivory silk with polychrome silk embroideries of a medallion, palmette and flower festoons, heraldic birds and crowns. Three sides have a wide border with a palmette vine as well as birds. Lined.

Little wear, slightly dirty, stains, minor damages.

Provenance

The present owners grandfather, Colonel Wilhelm Olivecrona (born in 1870), worked as a civil engineer for Chiang Kai-shek. Olivecrona worked in China for several years as a chief Engineer at the Board of Conservancy Works of Kwantung i Guangdong (Kanton) among others.
