A set of four cups, China, presumably Republic.

Decorated with a boy, rooster, hen and chickens as well as a long story. Two with Qianlong underglaze sealmark, two with overglaze sealmark. Height 7-7,3 cm.

Provenance

From the Collection of Rut Nordström, a Swedish Antique dealer in Stockholm opening her store in the 1950's. Situated at Munkbron in Old Town. Thence by descent.

More information

The inscription refers to the wonders of earlier ceramics, especially of the Xuande period and the chicken cups of the Chenghua period. It praises the skill of enamelling.
