The rectangular plaque carved in high relief with a groom holding a fly whisk surrounded by horses in a landscape and reversed by an incised inscription possibly reading mu ma xi shan (herding horses in the western mountains) bearing two seals of the Qianlong emperor, all highlighted in gold paint; the wood frame and stand reticulated in a leaf scroll pattern. Measurements of nephrite placque 26.5 x 19 cm, height including stand 49 cm.
