Gilt bronze and marble. With inscription "Autel à Venus". Length 33,5, height 39 cm.

The marble with chips and a minor edge repair. Some paste décor missing.

Provenance

The base is decorated with family Golitsyn's arms framed by the Polish Order of the White Eagle and Chamberlain's Key. Probably commissioned by Prince Mikhail Michajlowicz Golitsyn (1731-1804) who received the Order in 1769. He is one of the two Golitsyn who got the Order but the only one who was Chamberlain. Prince Mikhail Michajlowicz Golitsyn was Lieutenant General of the Russian army from 1774.
