An armorial tea service, Qing dynasty, Jiaqing (1796-1820). (11 pieces)

Decorated with the monogram PIG for Pehr Isak Grill. Comprising a teapot with cover and stand, a wash bowl with stand, three teacups with handle and stands, three cups with stands, five smaller cups with stands.

Provenance

The Thomax Collection. The collection was formed by the Art Collector and Conneisseur Professor Leif Sourander, Åbo, Finland from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. The collection was exhibited at the Arabia Museum in Helsinki during the period 2/9 – 30/10 1994. The Exhibition Catalogue was written by Bo Gyllensvärd, Heikki Hyvönen, Marjut Kumela, Leif Sourander and Jouko Tiainen. The collection was then sold as a hole to the present owner, thence by descent.
