A finely carved rhinoceros libation cup, Qing dynasty, Kangxi (1662-1722).

Elegantly carved with a single figure seated in a wooded moutainous landscape, the gnarled trees crowing up and around the cup and forming a handle at one end. Height 12,5 cm.

Provenance

The Collection of Siegmund Mindus(1872-1961). Born in Ostfriesen, Siegmund Mindus moved to Sweden in his youth, and established himself in the textile industry. He married Martha Traugott, the sister to the famous collector of Chinese porcelain and works of art, Ivar Traugott.
