Enligt U Frost, "Till Norrige! En Voyage pittoresque år 1827", 1997, alluderar staffaget i båten till Fahlcrantz och hans resesällskap bröderna Anckarsvärd. Frost anser att Fahlcrantz på så vis betonar att det rör sig om moderna resenärer som besöker en historisk plats.
Målningen är den största av tre kända versioner av detta motiv: Eskilstuna Museum 35 x 50,5 cm. och tidigare Emil Hultmarks samling, 29 x 42 cm. daterad 1830 (B Olson, "Emil Hultmark (1872-1944), konsthistoriker, samlare och mecenat" i Konsthistoriks tidskrift, LVII, häfte 3-5, 1988, sid 88.)

Designer

Carl Johan Fahlcrantz was a Swedish artist born in Stora Tuna, Dalarna. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art under the tutorship of Louise Belanger and Per Emanuel Limnell and also embarked upon artist retreats to Norway and Denmark. He was a member and professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Fahlcrantz was inspired by Elias Martins and his landscapes. Fahlcrantz was known for his view paintings and composed romantic landscapes with forests, mountains and waterfalls.
