An imperial edict, Jiaqing (1796-1820), dated to 1809 and of the period.

Written on silk brocade with a cloud and crane pattern-ground mounted as a handscroll, the text arranged in standard form in Manchu and Chinese characters, the Chinese text opening with a four-character title, Fengtian gaomin, 'By the Command of Heaven', flanked by a pair of dragons, followed by a long text and ending with the date 14th year of Jiaqing, corresponding to 1809, stamped with a seal impression besides it Manchu transliteration within a square, continuing with further Manchu text (scroll ends missing). 478 x 31,8 cm.
