Einar Jolins farfar Johan Jolin köpte på 1800-talet en egen fastighet, Kammakargatan 45 där han lät uppföra det palatsliknande huset som kom att kallas för "Jolinska huset". I detta hus föddes Einar Jolin 1890 på första våningen, på mellersta våningen bodde hans farmor Mathilde Wigert-Jolin och hans faster målarinnan Ellen Jolin.
